A SCENIC TOUR OF EMMERDALE IN THE BEAUTIFUL YORKSHIRE DALES AND FISH AND CHIP TEA
Saturday 10th April

Today we travel to Yorkshire and visit some of the original outside locations for the T.V. soap Emmerdale. At the small village of Esholt call in the Woolpack and have a drink alternatively take a leisurely stroll to the delightful Church. Lunchtime finds us in Otley (Hotton) where there is a good range of shops and a market. On our journey home there will be a fish and chip tea at the Wetherby Whaler.

NEWMARKET AND THE NATIONAL STUD
Saturday 17th April

A special day for all horse lovers, beginning with a tour of the Newmarket area with our guides, to the racecourse to see the horses on the gallops, ending the morning with a visit to the Fieldon Stables to meet the racehorses and learn about their day to day living. There will be free time in Newmarket for lunch and to explore this delightful town. We rejoin our coach in the afternoon and travel to the National Stud for a guided tour..

ARLEY HALL, GARDENS AND THE BLUEBELL WALK
Sunday 2nd May

Home to the Viscount and Viscountess Ashbrook, Arley Hall has great charm and character, originally built in 1469 by Piers Warburton, the present Hall built by Rowland Egerton-Warburton 1832-1845 in the Victorian- Jacobean style. The award winning gardens overlook a beautiful park lovingly created by successive generations of the family. The big wood near the Hall is home to vast carpets of bluebells, guided walk tours are available for good walkers, who must wear sensible footwear. Lunches, teas and light refreshments are available in the 16th century Tudor Barn.

LITTLE MORETON HALL AND BIDDULPH GRANGE GARDEN NT
Saturday 15th May

This morning we travel to Little Moreton Hall, a fascinating venue, imagine life here in Tudor times, there are delightful wall paintings, W.C’s over the moat, the knot garden, as well as colorful tales of the Moreton family. Refreshments are available in the restaurant serving home cooked food. After lunch we visit the amazing Biddulph Grange Garden, designed in the mid 19th Century by James Bateman, visitors are taken on a journey of discovery to individual gardens inspired by countries around the world. HOLT TO SHERINGHAM ON THE NORFOLK STEAM RAILWAY ‘THE POPPY LINE’

Today we travel to the charming market town of Holt and discover the delights of this ancient borough. After lunch we transfer you to Holt station where we will board the Stream Train and travel to Sheringham. NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY TO WHITBY
Monday 31st May
We travel to Pickering, home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. It is here we board our *steam train and start our exciting journey through the heart of the National Park terminating at the quaint old town of Whitby. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with shops clustered around the busy Harbour and overlooked by the ruined Abbey, why not use the opportunity to take a boat trip out to sea or an open-top bus tour and for tea, the best fish and chips to buy, are here at Whitby.

THE MAGNIFICENT RABY CASTLE AND STAINDROP VILLAGE
Sunday 27th June
Today we travel to Raby Castle, home to Lord Barnard’s family since 1626. The castle was mainly built in the 14th century by the Neville family who lived there until 1569 when after the failure of the “Rising of the North”, the castle and lands were forfeited to the Crown. Before we arrive at the Castle we call at the lovely village of Staindrop to visit the Church of St Mary’s which is rich in monuments to the Neville family. The stables at the Castle are now a gift shop and tea rooms serving lunches and teas.

A GEORGIAN DAY AT STUDLEY ROYAL & FOUNTAINS ABBEY – NT + EH

The Studley Royal Estate was inherited by John Aislabie in 1693.  After his expulsion from Parliament, following a scandal in 1721, he devoted himself until his death in 1742, to creating the Water Garden where you can enjoy a Georgian day. His vision completely transformed a wild, wooded valley and was completed by his son William, who purchased the Abbey ruins and also landscaped the Seven Bridges Valley and Abbey grounds, making the magnificent garden you see today. There is a gift shop and refreshments are available at The Lakeside Tearoom and The Visitor centre or there is a picnic area for outdoor dining.
